If you wonder why our associations have rules regarding kids on 4-wheelers and other motorized vehicles at our events, this might get your attention....

This is an article about my Aunt Grace and Uncle Billy's 11-year old great-nephew from this past weekend....

Same relation as my son Cole to them, but 3-years younger....

Community mourns boy who died in ATV accident

Funeral services are set for Tuesday for an 11-year-old Navasota boy who died in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Saturday.

Friends and family members will gather at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Navasota to celebrate the life of Thomas Moore, church officials said.

Thomas was a passenger on the ATV when the accident occurred in a pasture near Kurten, officials from the Brazos County Sheriff's Office said. He was visiting a friend, officials said.

An investigation into the accident continued Sunday, and Justice of the Peace Tommy Munoz has ordered an autopsy.

Officials did not say how the accident happened.

Thomas was a fourth-grader at Brazos Christian School in Bryan. His brother, a second-grader, and sister, a seventh-grader, also attend the school.

Robert Armstrong, headmaster of Brazos Christian, said classes will be canceled Tuesday so that teachers and students can attend the funeral.

"They're the sweetest family around. It's a very painful loss," he said. "I know the family would want me to say on their behalf that they still have hope because of the Lord, Jesus Christ in their lives."

Armstrong said discussing what happened with students on Monday is going to be tough.

"We will have some time in class and in an assembly tomorrow," he said. "This is one of those incidences we just can't explain. We find ourselves without words and with a sense of loss of a wonderful young boy."

Navasota Superintendent Rory Gesch said he has known the Moore family for some time and described them as kind people.

"He was a really good kid," Gesch said of Thomas.

Armstrong and church officials said the Moore family can count on a strong support system from both the school and the First Baptist congregation.
