Jerry Davis, 68, passed away January 24, 2010, after a courageous race against Pancreatic Cancer.

Jerry is preceded in death by parents, J.A. and Lucille Davis and step-son, Paul Dillingham. Jerry is survived by his wife and racing partner, Nancy; daughter, Rene Francis and husband Rob, Huffman, TX; son, John Davis and friend Jessie Martinez, Houston, TX; son, Joe Davis, Newton, TX; brother, Ted Matkin, Vinton, LA; sister, Bobbye Lou Callaway and husband Roy, Lampasas, TX; brother and racing partner, Max Davis and wife Linda, Spring, TX; sister, Judy Weaver and husband Ted, Splendora, TX; grandsons, Jeffrey and Jess Francis, Huffman, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Cheryl Campbell, Brownwood, TX; uncle, C.L. Watson, Donna, TX; nieces and nephews, Neil, Lisa, Lauree, Jeri, Doug, Scott, George, Gary, Charles, Sandi, Brian, Shelly. Jerry's War party TAF 556 Racing Crew which sponsor, Racers For Christ, Racers Emergency Support Program, and Rescue, and a national wife family of quarter mile drag boat racers, crews, fans.

Jerry was born in Center, TX and later moved to Humble, TX, where he owned and operated a large boating sports center. In 1987 Jerry moved to Montgomery, TX. Jerry started his racing career 38 years ago participating in circle boat racing. He moved quickly into the jet boat category and then into the Top Alcohol Flatbottom Class. Jerry and Nancy campaigned War Party across the United States winning High Points Championship and World Champion runner up in 2000. In addition to the accolades and titles won, he has garnered praise from his peers receiving many awards. Jerry was inducted into the SDBA Hall of Fame, Jack Howell Award for Best Appearing Boat and Crew, Davis Skalicky Memorial Award, and this past weekend Jerry was awarded the Don Ermshar Memorial Award at the IHBA Banquet in Las Vegas. There are many more achievements for Jerry that are too numerous to list. Jerry's competitive spirit, determination, and courage, has forged his legacy in the sport of quarter mile drag boat racing.

A special thanks to Dr. Pierre Khoury, Bre, Keri, and Alicia and staff.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, TX with Rev. Greg Garland officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel in Conroe, TX. Jerry's final quarter mile pass will be made at the Lucas Oil-SDBA Race in Marble Falls, TX weekend of August 14-15, 2010. This is Jerry's final destination on earth and we will see him at the staging lanes in heaven. The family requests, for services, casual dress or racing apparel.
